THE SHARING PRINCIPLE:
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon us, because the Lord has anointed us to bring good news to the suffering and afflicted. He has sent us to comfort the broken-hearted, to announce liberty to captives and to open the eyes of the blind. [Isa. 61:1]

14.  THE SHARING PRINCIPLE

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon us, because the Lord has anointed us to bring good news to the suffering and afflicted.  He has sent us to comfort the broken-hearted, to announce liberty to captives and to open the eyes of the blind.  [Isa. 61:1]

Proclaiming His Salvation

We proclaim the good news of His salvation.  We give testimony as to what the Lord has done for us.   "Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day"  (Psa. 96:2a).  We have some different categories of salvation that we can tell others about.

FROM OUR SIN.   Certainly the greatest salvation God has provided for us is our salvation from sin.  God is the One who has made a cleansing for our sins.  The Psalmist cries out,  "Help us, O God of our salvation, For the glory of Your name;  And deliver us, and provide atonement for our sins"  (Psa . 79:9).    Our only hope is the Lord.  He has provided salvation through the death of His Son Jesus Christ.  When we were oppressed by our sins and we were in the shackles of sin.  But He provided a way out and we can rejoice in His freedom.

What difference has God's salvation  from sin meant in your life?

FROM  OUR ENEMIES.  In the Psalms the most frequent used of the words "save", "salvation", "deliverance" relates to those who would oppress God's people.  We often do not know what to do when we are victimized by others.  What we can do is leave them in the Lord's hands.  "The LORD is my light  and my salvation; whom shall I fear?  the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psa 27:1).  We can leave revenge with the LORD, for He is the One who will set everything right.

FROM TRIALS.  The LORD delivers us from our difficulties.  Sometimes are caught in a trap and we can see no way out.  But the LORD lifts us up.  "I waited patiently for the LORD: and He inclined to me;  and heard my cry.  He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps."  (Psa 40:1,2,10b)

FROM  ILLNESS.  Sometimes illness results from the stress of life.  David prays,   "Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak;  O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.  My soul also  is greatly troubled;  But You, O LORD -- how long?  Return, O LORD, deliver me!  Oh, save me for Your mercies' sake!"  (Psa. 6:2-4).  We have seen God delivers us both from the distress and the resulting illness.   At times we may feel as though we are headed for death, but the LORD intervenes.

FROM POVERTY.  The Lord saves those who are poor. "He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy"  (Psa. 72:13).   God takes care of His own.  David also says that now that he is old, that he has not seen the LORD's "descendants begging bread."  (Psa. 37:25).

Jesus truly saves and delivers us in every way.  We should have several testimonies that we can proclaim to all that we meet.

In what ways have you seen God's salvation?

Remember:

"Jesus" means "He Saves".
